Hello! Sometimes I feel like the luckiest woman in the world to receive unlimited love, hugs and kisses everyday and I absolutely love what I do! I am a very athletic, active woman in my early thirties with a lot of energy. Who wouldn't be happy and energetic walking outside with happy tails all day?
During the afternoons, Monday through Friday, you've probably seen me walking about various Piney Orchard neighborhoods or perhaps running around Lake Elkhorn in the evenings while training for the next big triathlon. Feel free to say hello!!! I also have a strong hobby in non-aversive training for your pet, whether it be simple tricks or behavior modification. I believe that through strong bonding, plenty of love, clear communication and consistency anything is possible!
Currently my menagerie is smaller than in previous days. My beloved cat, Honey Bear died Sept 5th, 2009 of simultaneous heart and kidney failure after falling ill quite suddenly. He will be best remembered
for his giving nature. The day before he died, I was crying with him in my arms. Even though he could barely breathe or move he still tried to purr my tears away and touch my face gently with his paw which was the way he gave a hug. I will forever miss him, he is part of my heart. He was 17.
Six years ago Honey Bear helped me raise and rescue a litter of five kittens who were just three days old. He was the one to teach them not to play too rough, how to clean their bottoms and was a very caring male mommy. After bottle feeding them every three hours, taking a leave of absence from then college and beating their 20% chance of survival rate to make it to ten weeks (without a mother's milk they don't have an immune system until much older) I found two great homes for four of them. The fifth is my boy, Lush. He is a Maine Coon, completely confused about what cats should typically do or not do and so fetches, obeys hand signals for commands and tricks, and is harness and leash trained for the vet trips and car rides he loves.
I hope to hear your stories soon. ~April Lee
